ABOUT

Pyrenees and GR 11

In July and August 2010 I walked the hiking track GR 11, leading from the Spanish Mediterranean coast via the Pyrenees to the Atlantic ocean.

It took me 51 days for the approximately 800 kilometres, crossing Catalonia, Castilla, Aragon, Navarra, the Basque Country and Andorra as well as the three national parks: Maladera, D'Aigüestortes and Ordesa.

The track leads through forests, valleys, meadows and over passes up to 2.800 m high. You have to cross countless rivers and creeks, snow fields and stone fields (screes).

The reward consists of fantastic, untouched landscapes and mountain views, crystal-clear water and blossoming meadows inhabited by goats and sheeps, eagles, vultures and whistling groundhogs. There are camp sites next to giant waterfalls, icy mountain lakes and ancient monastery ruins

This time I took an Eine OLYMPUS E-510 and a 12-60mm 2,8 lens - both have accompanied me on my travels for some time now.

I've decided to create a separate GR 11 - gallery which will be updated at regular intervals. If you plan to walk the GR 11 or parts of it and are looking for information, you're welcome to contact me.
